Antique quilt backing, woolen yarn, dried wildflowers.
The western culture prizes self reliance. You make do, find a way, and survive. Needing a quilt for her home, a woman of another era fashioned a quilt back out of flour sacks and tobacco bags. This was an ingenious solution for her and provided a backdrop for this embellished work. Accenting the mellow, aged cotton and the pattern of old tobacco seals are strands of yarn. A festive bouquet of indigenous dried flowers adds a spark of affection.
