"EDDIE’S WHEELS"
7 stories high
bicycle wheels, yarn, wire
The building had a past……a bicycle factory, at the turn of the century, produced the famous “Columbia Rambler” in it’s workrooms and the new fangled “automobile” was close behind as the fledging American Motors “Nash Rambler” was launched. Eddie Schwinn was intrigued and provided the bicycle wheels from his Chicago factory. Seven stories of distinctive wheels wrapped in a profusion of fibers and hung on wire. A “picnic” with peanut butter sandwiches and sugar cookies celebrated the works unveiling.
